My work usually begins at the dye pots where I can source the colors I need to bring my ideas into woven structures and other forms. My work explores mathematically based patterns, experiences of home and the struggle of the current economic hardship.
About Mandy Pedigo
I am a textile artist living in St. Louis, Missouri. I am a weaver, quilter, surface designer and yarn designer. I am interested in the knowledge that at one time all fabrics were hand woven and quilting extended the life of the cloth after it was no longer functional in the original form. I am pursuing an additional degree in textiles with a minor in art history at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. When not at school or the studio, I can be found teaching knitting, crochet and weaving and volunteering with many regional and national organizations.
About The Cloistered Lamb
Years ago my aunt and mother owned a small art shop in Sedona, Arizona called The Cloisters. I spent weeks during the summer hanging out in the shop. It was a lovely place with jewelry, woven rugs, prints, and sculpture. In naming my own venture, I wanted to honor them for their unexpected fostering in the arts.
